The intersection of sports and labor law provides numerous challenges. As outside labor counsel for the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA), Sherman Dunn helps meet those challenges by bringing our labor expertise to the union-side of professional sports. We have advised the MLSPA through its founding, the first-ever collective bargaining agreement in Major League Soccer history, and into the present. During that time, soccer in the United States and Canada has continued to grow, and through the MLSPA, player salaries, rights, and benefits have increased significantly.
Today, we provide counsel to the Players Association on a wide variety of internal and external matters. In addition to counseling the MLSPA on the daily administration of the collective bargaining agreement, we provide on-going advice and counsel concerning collective bargaining negotiations.
